The paid and free sides of Kilimli Koyu in Ağva, which part of the cove to head for if you want a quiet camp, and when to go.

Ağva can get crowded at weekends. But Kilimli Koyu (Kilimli Cove), a little past the town, is still one of the places where you can camp in peace, especially at the back. It's a cove where the forest runs down to the sea, with next to no facilities around it.
Where is it?
In Ağva, a small town in Şile, on the Black Sea coast. About 100 km from Istanbul, 1.5 to 2 hours by car.
How to get there
Drive to Ağva, then follow the signs for Kilimli Koyu. Sources say you can also get there on the 139A line from Üsküdar in about 3 hours. Check the line details with İETT before you go.
Camping conditions
The two sides of the cove are different:
- The right side is paid. There's a charge for entry and for camping. Prices shared for 2025 were around 300 TL for vehicle entry, 400 TL for camping in a tent and 600 TL for staying in your vehicle. Prices change every year, so check before you go.
- The left side and the back are free. If you're looking for somewhere quieter, follow the path to the back of the cove.
- The free parts have no facilities like toilets or water. Pick up what you need in Ağva on your way.
When to go
Early June and September are the best times, both for the weather and for the quiet. Weekends in July and August can get crowded.
Good to know
