Packaging and Label Design

Your product has three seconds on the shelf or on screen to explain itself. Coffee bags, olive oil bottles, cat food, cosmetics boxes, shipping boxes: they all face the same question, "What is this, and why should I buy it?" I don't design labels on screen. I print them at actual size and test them on the product, right next to the competition.

## What kind of packaging?
- Boxes: Product boxes, shipping boxes, gift boxes; from dieline (cutting template) to print
- Labels: Jar, bottle, tin and pouch labels; roll labels and sleeves
- Pouches and doypacks: Coffee, nuts, spices, pet food
- Hang tags and swing tickets: Textiles and accessories
- Product ranges: A consistent but distinguishable system across a brand's range of 5–20 products

## What's included
- A short chat about the product, your target customer and the shelf it will sit on, plus photos of competitors on the shelf
- Getting the dieline from your printer or packaging manufacturer (if there isn't one, I draw it to your measurements)
- 2 concepts, an actual-size printed proof and a shelf test (The shelf test in label design)
- Layout of the mandatory information: ingredients, nutrition facts, barcode, manufacturer details, batch/expiry date area, halal/organic/TSE and similar marks
- Press-ready PDF: bleed, cut lines, color separation, and varnish/foil layers if needed (Final checks before sending files to the printer)
- Product mockups for you to use in e-commerce and on social media

## What I pay attention to
- Small print. Food labels have a minimum type size for mandatory information. 4 pt text squeezed into the design is both a legal problem and a readability problem.
- Printing method. Color and fine lines behave differently in flexo, offset and digital printing, so I talk to the printer before I design.
- Materials. Decisions like white ink on kraft paper or reverse printing on a clear label need to be made at the very start.
- Range logic. I build a system so that when you add a third product, you don't have to redo the whole design.

Frequently asked questions

How much does label design cost?

A single label or a range? Is there a dieline? Do you need mockups? After our chat I give you a firm quote. Optionally: "a single label starts from X TL".

I don't have a printer. Can you find one?

Yes. I can get quotes from the label and box manufacturers I work with in Istanbul and follow the job through.

Where do I get a barcode?

It's issued to your company by GS1 Turkey. I place it on the label and size it according to the rules.

Do you know the mandatory legal requirements?

I know the basic rules for food and cosmetics and lay out the label accordingly. Final wording and regulatory approval remain the responsibility of you or your consultant.

Do you also make images for e-commerce?

Yes, I deliver mockup images of the packaging for marketplaces and social media.
